Holiday Blog Challege - Days 1 & 2

I really wanted to do Neely and Amber's holiday link up but of course forgot!

So here we go...

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Day 1: Favorite give ever received.
You will laugh when you read on and I fully expect you to. The best gift I ever received was... a toilet seat. Yes, you read that correctly. But not just any toilet seat, a wooden one!

Let me explain. It was a few weeks before Christmas and I went to go to the bathroom. The squishy plastic toilet seat that my parents currently had was cracked and they hadn't gotten around to replacing it yet. Well, when I went to get off the toilet, I scrapped the entire back of my leg on the damned cracked plastic! It hurt and I was not a happy camper! So a few days later when we went to see Santa, my older sisters convinced me to ask for a toilet seat for Christmas.

Fast forward... Christmas morning and we all go to open presents. What does little Sarah open first, a toilet seat of course! I was excited beyond belief! I didn't even want to open any other presents after that.

I bet y'all are jealous now, aren't you? You should be! If you're lucky, I'll look at my parents house to see if they have a picture from that morning (which I'm sure they do).

Day 2: Favorite holiday tradition, new or old
My favorite tradition was always going through my stocking - as quiet as I could be. My parents had always told us that we weren't allowed to wake them up before 8am to open presents but we were allowed to go through our stockings while waiting. It is a tradition I will continue with my kids... not only did my parents get to sleep longer but it made the presents last longer (instead of opening everything within the first 5 minutes of waking up).

On a completely different note - but I must add - who watched Hart of Dixie last night? I was so happy that Wade was finally going to tell Zoe how he felt but then his plan fell apart and I felt horrible for him. I hope they get together one of these days!

Speaking of let downs... I was so mad that there wasn't a new HIMYM last night. You can't end one episode having Robin tell Barney she's pregnant then do a rerun the next week! What is wrong with CBS?!?

Thanksgiving weekend recap...

It was around 2pm on Wednesday when my mom called me.... Little background info: the whole week before, I had been asking what I am suppose to bring to my grandma's for Thanksgiving and I never got an answer. So here we are, the day before Thanksgiving and I am just now being told that I have to make a dessert. Wonderful! I have to figure out something to make AND go to the store for the ingredients. But what better place to turn to then Pinterest for inspiration!

My completed pie. Sorry for the glare, the plastic top was on it (I forgot to take a picture before we left the house).
And yes, that is the aluminum pan the pie crust comes it. I realized after I left the store that I didn't have a pie plate.

PB pie = DELICIOUS!!! The recipe calls for a whole tub of whipped cream but I only added 3/4 of it and I think next time I make it, I'll add even less. I'm tempted to make one just for B and I but I know it would be a horrible idea unless I want to buy all new pants!

Now, if you ask Beau if he wants a boy or girl when we have kids, he'll say a boy but I think this picture says otherwise...

I wish I had my real camera instead of just the handy dandy iPhone

I had so much to eat (then again who doesn't on Thanksgiving), I was pretty much in a food coma all night! Beau even went to bed at 8:30pm because he was so stuffed!

I think you know by now that I had been waiting and waiting for Friday the 25th so I'd be able to decorate for Christmas. Well, the day came and I was in full Christmas mode! I even ventured out to Target for some Black Friday sales!

I would like to state that only about $50 of this order was mine.

Beau, Sammy, Bow, and my stockings hung by the (crappy) fireplace

Our tree... This is the first year we are using a fake tree. Kind of sad but it will be SO much easier.
I think I'll add another string or two of lights :-)

Just a few more things to do around the house and we will be ready for Santa! I also got our Christmas cards ordered last night. Once I get them and send them out, I'll post a picture.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and if you didn't get a chance to read my Wish {out loud} post yesterday, you can check it out here!

Wish {out loud}

Krystina from Cup 'a Hot Chocolate, Ashley from Chickadette, and Robin from - fly far. fly free. are hosting a wonderful link up...

Wish out loud

I wish that there wasn't as many homeless/shelter dogs, especially during the holiday season.

Please, please spay and neuter your dogs to keep the amount of homeless dogs down.

Also, adopt from shelters... They aren't broken! Most of those dogs are just as good if not better then dogs from breeders.

If you are unable to get a dog for whatever reason, don't let these dogs sit in their kennels feeling alone. Go to a shelter and volunteer. What better to do during the holiday season then to give!

You won't find me here today...

I apologize for being absent the past couple of days. Between Thanksgiving, Black Friday, cooking, shopping, decorating the house, and other thing, it's been a crazy couple of days. Today won't be any less crazy though because it's a BIG day in college football...

{source unknown}

That's right... today is the big Clemson - South Carolina game! Hopefully we play a little lot better then we did last week!

Thankful Day 3 and the Mirrorball Winner

This one should come without saying but I am thankful for Beau. He is an important part of my life and I am so glad that we will be spending our lives together.

And in case you were wondering our height difference...

Yes, I only planned on posting things I'm thankful for since this week is crazy but this I am thankful for as well...
Did you guys watch the DWTS Finale last night?!? I am beyond happy that JR and Karina won! They definitely deserved it!

Enjoy your Wednesday and for those who won't be on tomorrow, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

An important topic to read and pass on...

I need to talk to everyone about a serious matter that is important to me.

With the upcoming holidays, people become really busy. It's understandable. But too often people get caught up with life around them that they forget about a very important thing... there dog. I'm not knocking the South - I love it down there - but there tends to be a lot more abandoned dogs down there. No matter where in the world you go though, you will find dogs whose owner's became too busy, or frankly just don't care, and chained them outside. This is NOT ok people!!! Dogs can freeze to death and the worst part about it is if they're chained, they can't even attempt to find someplace warm. If you see a dog outside for more then a day, please do something about it. Call your local animal control, knock on the door and ask the homeowner if you can give the dog some hay or a blanket, or call a local organization to help.

Do not ignore the dogs silent plea for help!

A fantastic organization against chaining dogs.
I am not affliated not am I paid by them - I just love the work they do.

What I am thankful for - Day 2

We're getting closer and closer to Thanksgiving which means a few days off and time spent with family.

I am so thankful for my girls. They are definitely my angels in disguise! I don't know how I would have gotten through what I have without them!

What I am thankful for - Day 1...

This week's post will be short - mainly pictures. The week of Thanksgiving is usually crazy because everyone wants off. So between working (and doing more than my job) and having stuff to get done before Thanksgiving, I've decided to post a picture or two a day of things I'm thankful for.

First, I am thankful for my wonderful parents and sisters. I don't know what I would do without them!

I lied...

I know I don't normally blog on Saturdays but I must admit... something I said the other day was NOT true.

On the Ulitmate Twilight Fan Link Up I said I was on Team Emmett. Don't get me wrong, movie-wise I am all for Emmett but after seeing the cast on Ellen yesterday (without pale skin and blonde hair)... Hello Dr. Cullen aka Peter Facinelli!

In the movie:

In real life:

The whole cast on The Ellen Show:

Hot, isn't he?!

Ok, confession over. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Farewell to a TV Legend

This morning, I am sitting here watching the Regis Farewell Special. Do I normally watch Regis and Kelly in the morning? Nope. It was around the time that Kelly came on the show when I stopped watching. But I am today because there is just something about the love that surrounds a person on their finale show that melts my heart.

So here to you, Regis. Thank you for all the years I spent watching/growing up with you and Kathy Lee. You are a New York icon and just like others, I can't wait to see what you have store for us in the future because lets face it, you're leaving the show but you will never leave the public eye.

Alone in this world...

Have you ever had one of those days when you feel so alone?

When all you want to do is talk to your 'friends' but they are always too busy?

Luckily, I don't have that feeling as often now that I am working and out of the house more but for a while, this was a daily feeling. Everyone I knew would be out doing things, hanging out with their friends but when I would call them to hang out, they never had time. It was like everyone forgot about me. Was it my injury? It's a back injury people, I'm not dead! I felt like I was all alone, pretty much all the time... Yes, I had Beau but lets face it, sometime you need to talk to someone besides your man. Girl talk. My parents and sisters helped me get through this but even that wasn't the same. They're family, kind of obligated to love me. Well I guess they don't have to but they do!

So today I would like to take a moment and tell you how blessed I feel to have the family and fiance (and furbabies) that I do. Without them, I don't know where I would be today! My family is the MOST important part of my life and they have definitely helped me through the good and bad times.
