Awkward... and Awesome...

Last night I was lying in bed, planning on doing the Awkward & Awesome link up today but it doesn't seem like it is a link up... just a bunch of people who do it.
If it is one, please let me know so I can put your button on my page. Thank you.

Awkward:

-- Beau's dad made a comment about my boobs the other day. Umm, I'm your future daughter-in-law.

-- Going to the store to buy ice cream and potato chips aka: a pregnant lady's shopping cart. No bean here though! There may be one in B's belly though -- he's the one who wanted both!
(And yes, I did ask if he wanted pickles with it. He thought about it but noticed we had some in the fridge haha)

-- Being in my 20s and thoroughly enjoying Boyfriend by The Biebs.

-- Sammy lying in bed with Beau and I but deciding she wanted her butt by our heads and head near our feet. She then rolled over for a belly rub.

-- Dancing in the car, while driving, and looking over to see there is a car next to you... staring at you.

-- Yesterday I went for my yearly exam, if you know what I mean, and a new doctor walked in the room. A tall average height, dark, and handsome male doctor. If that wasn't awkward enough, he saw my skull and crossbones tattoo and asked if I was a pirate... MID EXAM!

Yes, that got FIVE awkward turtles. Five.
Bethany asked if I did the awkward turtle... I think that
would have made it a million times more awkward though!

Awesome:

-- Watching the Devils game last night while enjoying chocolate froyo with fresh strawberries

-- Finding an adorable dress to wear for B's brother's wedding in a few weeks (you'll see it then)

-- The house is clean, 95% of the yard work is done... Which means I'm not planning on doing either all weekend!

-- The weather we've been having. Until today that is -- it's a little cooler but I've enjoyed the 90-degree weather we've had the rest of the week.

-- Dance Moms comes back on next week! Oh how I've missed Abby yelling at little kids...

-- Having house plants that after 6+ months are STILL alive!!! Some of you are thinking this is normal but for me, it's not. I have a black thumb and usually kill everything.

-- Getting our engagement photos done soon. I mean, it's only been a year since we got engaged!

Blonde moments... We all have them...

As most of you know - or should know based on the name of my blog - I am blonde.

And I'm not just talking about my hair color. I am a blonde who has many, many blonde moments... 90% of the time to be exact.

I'm pretty sure you would stop reading my blog if I posted about every blonde moment (saying to yourself "wow, this girl is f'ed up!") but today I'm going to share a few of my more mellow moments with you.

Blonde moment #38732486589 of 41839758625...

Walking out of Walmart, calling my Dad to tell him something.
As he answers the phone, I realize my car is missing.
This was our conversation...

Dad: "Hi honey, what's up?"
Me: "Daddy, my car is missing."
Dad: "What do you mean 'it's missing'?"
Me: "I parked it right here. It's GONE!"
Dad: "Is there glass on the ground?"
Me: "No but it's not here!"
Dad: "Hit the panic button."
Me: "I have been. Nothing is happening. It's gone, Daddy! My car is gone!!!"
:: I walk around the parking lot hitting the panic button ::
:: car alarm starts to go off ::
Me: "I found it!"
Dad: "Where is it?"
Me: "Oh about 6 aisles away... apparently too far for my panic button to work."

Blonde moment #13546987652 of 41839758625...

You know those pans under the electric coils of the cooking stove? Well the ones in our apartment were nasty... I don't think they were cleaned since the day the stove was installed. I tried once but the grime was cooked on there so I went out and bought new ones.

Sidenote: Milk boils QUICKLY so this probably didn't help...

Nasty, isn't it?

To replace them you have to unplug and remove the coil. And that's what I did. But when I plugged it back in, it just didn't feel like it clicked into place. So what's a blonde to do? I turned the burner on to see if it would heat up. To check? I touched it. Who knew it got that hot that fast.

On to the second coil... yup, you guessed it. I touched that one too! I figured it was just a glitch that the other heated up that quickly. It wasn't though. I did learn my lesson that time.

Blonde moment #9546987652 of 41839758625...

So to drive an ambulance, you need to take a driving course. One day of class room, the other day driving. Myself and two members of my rescue squad went to a local fire department and took the class with them... It was mid-March... still cold out.

I had driven the ambulance before but never through obstacles like they want you to do so I was nervous. Everyone kept telling me I'd do fine though and the fire department's chief even told me that they have brand new collapsible cones so even if I hit them, they'd be completely fine.

Apparently, that isn't true when it's cold out. I parallel parked it fine. Did the serpentine fine. But once I got to the narrowed road? POW! I hit a cone. I corrected myself but not in time. POW again.

I'm not joking when I tell you that the 'unbreakable' cones shattered! A million pieces, everywhere. I felt terrible. We offered to pay them since they were new and $50 each but they told me the comedic relief was worth it.

Of course, every time I saw anyone who went to the class, they would make fun of me. Haha alright -- jokes on me. I get it.

One year later, we had our annual banquet and a few people from that fire department were invited. So after the awards were given out, the chief went up and told the cone story. Then? He presented me with a cone! Embarrassing, completely. But it was everyone's highlight of the night. I think at least 30 people took pictures and/or danced with the damn cone!

Alright so that was wasn't really a blonde moment but a funny one. But reading it doesn't make it as funny as it really was/is. I guess it was a 'you had to be there'... sorry.

So those are just a few of my 'moments'. One day I'll post more... once I can remember them!

(is my bad memory part of my blonde-ness?)

Weekend review...

This weekend was the best I've had in a while. Why? Because it was 80+ degrees and I loved it!!! If I could move to Libya where they have a recorded temperature of 134 degrees, I would... (ok, I wouldn't actually move there but you catch my drift)

TRUTH:

And I had that face on all weekend!

I enjoyed a little brewski...

Shandies are what I drank in Germany so it took me back to Summer 2004... Oh how I miss Germany!

This happened:

My bestest friend became an aunt to an adorable little boy named Greyson! Once again, congratulations to the whole family!

And the weekend ended with the air conditioner being put in... I could have lived without it for a few more weeks but Beau and Sammy were dying of the heat. I don't think Sammy hasn't moved from in front of it!

And I got a lot of yard work done. More than I expected -- which was nice. No tan though... still albino.

I hope everyone else enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend as well!

Things that make me go mmmm...

So I've decided to share with you all a list of (some of the) things that make me happy. I've needed a lot of cheering up lately and these help...

Hugs
Just the comfort of being embraced in someone's arms makes me smile. This goes along with forehead kisses

Wine
By the bottle, not glass. Kidding. Sort of. But do I really need to explain this one?

Sweet Home Alabama
If Reese Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey, and Josh Lucas doesn't cheer you up, I'm not sure anything will.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup
It's my feel-good food. I even made me parents search all over Disney once because it's all I wanted. And if you're wondering, it can be found in Downtown Disney.

Puppies
My puppies in particular. It's medically proven that petting a dog lowers your blood pressure. For me, nothing calms me more.

Blog friends
Thank you all for your opinions on Monday's post. Your two cents meant a lot to me.

Warm weather
Which is coming this weekend! 80+ degrees... ahhh!

Chapstick
Soft lips are important and not having chapstick can ruin your whole day.

Beau
Most of the time at least! As long as he isn't the one that made me mad/upset in the first place, he's who I want to be making me smile.

4-day weekends
Most have a 4-day weekend starting tomorrow thanks to Memorial Day. I, on the other hand, have a long weekend every other weekend. Be jealous, very jealous.

Happy thirsty Thursday, folks!

21 May 2012

Nothing good can come from this...

Ok ladies, I need your help...

Last night around 10:15, one of Beau's female friends called to talk because she was feeling anxious and stuff. Alright, whatever.

Well after 45 minutes of talking about random stuff, the call ends like this:

Girl: "I'll let you go. I love you."
Beau: "Have a good night. Love you too."

While I was lying next to him!!!

I asked him why he said it and his response? "Well she's a good friend."

First off, I don't care how good of a friend she is, I don't go around telling my guy friends I love them.

I'm not - and don't want to be - the jealous type, but hearing him say this was hurtful towards me and made me question his feeling for me. I couldn't even sleep last night I was so pissed off and heartbroken. I even thought about calling off the wedding around 2am.

What made this girl think it was ok to tell an engaged man that she loved him?! Plus she knew I was lying right next to him in bed.

Am I being rational for being upset about this? What would you do in my shoes?

19 May 2012

Well THAT wasn't in my plans for the night...

My Friday night started out wonderfully!

Beau was working until midnight (as usual) so I decided to have a nice, relaxing night. What was I to do home alone on a Friday night? I'll tell you...

Rent The Vow, snuggle on the couch with my puppy, glass of wine in hand.

And that's exactly what I did.

The movie was great and the night was exactly what I needed after the week I'd been having.

Since I had to be up at 5am this morning for work at 6, I went to bed once the movie was over -- it was a little after 11:30pm. Sam and I snuggled up with the fan on and completely passed out.

Side note: Normally, I sleep like the dead. A bomb could blow up next to my head
and if I lived through it, I'd still be asleep. This is how last night was.

All of a sudden, Beau was shaking me awake telling me someone was trying to get in our house.

Wait, what?!? Our house??? We live on a highway, you'd think it would be safer. I even had the living room and kitchen lights on for when Beau got home. Were they watching me and knew I went up to bed???

Apparently someone tried to get in through our side door but the neighbor across the street saw him try then run so she called the cops as Beau was getting home from work. After checking on me, B searched the property as three NJ State Troopers came to the house and searched with him. They didn't find anyone. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night.

This isn't the first time it's happened though. A few weeks after we moved in, a guy tried to get in the same door while we were both home. The cops never found him either.

We have motion sensors on our first floor so we would know if someone got in but the fact that I was home both times and they still tried scares the crap out of me. But between Beau, myself, and my German Shepherd, they would regret if they ever successfully made it in!

Female friends...

(Please note: This post is meant to be funny, no disrespect/offense)

Let's talk about something...

Female friends.
Girlfriends.
Peeps.
Chicas.
Whatever you'd like to call them.

No this isn't one of those 'I don't have any female friends and I don't know why' post. But if you're asking yourself that, my response probably isn't blog appropriate.
Sorry I'm not sorry.

Anyway... I'm irresistible.

She used to look good to me but now I find her
SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE!
She's so fine, there's no tellin where the money went
(you weren't singing along? my bad)

Ok, ok not exactly. Let me tell you something though:

My best friend from before kindergarten until high school... lesbian.
My best friend from 10th grade to present... bisexual.
Two really good friends of mine since 2005ish... lesbian... with each other!

I should mention that I have no problem with gays / bisexuals. It's not my cup of tea but to each their own.

But basically this is a PSA for you -- I tend to turn people lesbian.

Watch out, ladies!

Maybe it's because we taking pictures like this... haha
It wasn't my idea though!

I wish I had more to share...

I haven't posted anything in a week. Heck, I haven't even been on Blogger for a week. I just needed a break... from everything. So much has been going on but unfortunately I can't talk about it. It was nice to have time to catch up on cleaning the house relax though.

I wish I could tell/show you a bunch of interesting things I've been up to but who am I kidding, Sarah doesn't have a life! But in case you were wondering what I've been up to, here you go...

-- My schedule worked out where I had a 6-day 'weekend'
-- But I had 3 doctors appointments for this lovely back of mine
-- Spent most of Mother's Day in the Poconos relaxing, reading, and painting my toenails
-- Had to-go food almost every night (cooking is so overrated)
-- Allergies have been acting up, giving me a horrible sore throat and making me lose my voice. Beau is enjoying it though... in between making fun of me, that is
-- Sammy is still depressed that she can't run free like she could in Virginia
-- Season finales have been taking up most nights (and he picked Robin <3 I knew it!)

And today I'm back at work ::enter big sad face here::  Luckily the day seems to be going quickly

Did I just jinx myself?!

Happy Thirsty Thursday!

Oh wait... Did you see Dr. Oz in Good Housekeeping? No?!? Well then...

Ok, that's all :-)

10 May 2012

Winner, winner...

CHICKEN DINNER!
(sorry, I couldn't help myself)

And the winner is...

Congratulations! Please contact me so I can get your book to you :-)

By the way, who watched The Voice finale on Tuesday? I haven't watched the past few weeks but I did like Jermaine ever since he sang Complicated during the blind auditions. His final performance though? Yup, I cried... especially during this...

So, so sweet!

But what in the heck was Christina wearing?!? Sequin underwear?

Put some pants on woman!

08 May 2012

Home, sweet, home... Ugh

I'm back from Virginia against my will.

Let me tell you something, it is tough to leave there to come back to NJ. Especially since Sammy was having the time of her life (as I'm sure my twitter followers know)

My little Scion... packed to the max

Nice and warm (and it wasn't even that cloudy)

Sammy at the welcome center.
Yes, I am THAT crazy pet parent.
Even she didn't want the picture taken.

Down at the pond.
She loved it until she heard a frog... then she wanted
nothing to do with it, at all!

"Look Ma, I'm free!!!"

And that last picture explains it all... One of the many reasons I was sad to leave Virginia. In NJ we live on the highway so Sam has to be leashed the whole time but once we got to the property, she was able to run and have the time of her life. Seeing her so happy made me smile!

But now we're home. Booooo! Hopefully going back to Virginia soon (at least dreaming to)

By the way, only a few more hours to enter to win a copy of Bloom!
Giveaway ends tonight at 12:00EST

03 May 2012

Truth is, I have a son...

Hi, my name is Sarah and I have two 4-legged daughters and one 29 year old son.

Wait, what the hell?!?

Yes, a son who is 6 years older than me. I sometimes also refer to him as my fiance.

I don't know about you ladies but Beau cannot walk near the toy section in a store without playing and wanting to buy something. Usually, I'm pretty good at talking him out of it or buying it for my nephew (so we don't have toys all over the house). Well until last night that is...

On the way to the grocery store last night, we stopped at Best Buy to look for a computer cable. On the way out - empty handed mind you - we passed a whole display of RC helicopters. I could have sworn Beau saw them. How can you not, they're right there! So I open my big freaking mouth and tell him to keep walking. To which he replies, "What are you talking about? Ohhhh! I want!" Luckily, I talked him out of the $100 model but we still ended up leaving the store with a helicopter... which he likes to fly over my head and chase the girls with. Awesome.

One more toy to add with his Nerf gun!

PS: If you haven't already done so, check out yesterday's post. I'm giving away a copy of Bloom!

Bloggers block...

I don't know if it's my boring life or this cold weather but lately I've been completely uninspired. I love to blog and wish I could do so each and every day but recently, I just have no idea what to write about. It's bad people! I've never had bloggers block this much before.

Hopefully, I'll get some relaxation in during my weekend trip to Virginia and will come back with a million blog posts (hey, one can wish!)

On that topic though... 3 days until I leave for the good 'ol South and boy am I beyond ready!

I need sun.
I need warmth.
I need people who say y'all.

And even though I'm going to miss Beau, this girl can use the time away.

In the meantime though, you are more than welcome to send me topics to blog about :-)
