The first time happened in 2004 when my bestest friend (Chelsea) and I were watching my grandma's house and dog while she was out of town. We
Best part of the story: We were standing in a doorway facing each other and I screamed and pointed behind her (as a joke) and she screamed and started stabbing the air. If only there was a video!
The second time happened this past summer. I was house sitting (common theme here) about an hour away from home for a family friend. Not only was I homesick but scared in general at night because I didn't know anyone in the area and there were a TON of windows in their house. It was my first night around 9:15 when someone rang the door bell. So I look out the window and see two ladies - one middle aged and the other older - standing on the porch. I open the door and the conversation went like this...
Lady: "Hi, is your mom home?"
Me: "Um, nooo"
Lady: "Well is your dad home then?"
Me: "Neither are home right now."
I didn't want to tell them I was just a friend staying for the week.
Lady: "Are they going to be home tonight?"
Me: (not wanting to lie in case they are friends) "Actually they are gone for the week."
Lady: "We live over there. *points to house* Can you tell them we stopped by?"
Me: "Sure..."
Lady: "We brought some apple pie, would you like it?"
Me: "No I'm not taking your poisoned pie!" Just kidding! But I did politely say no thanks.
I then text my friend to see if it was normal for people to stop by with apple pie after 9 at night. She said it wasn't normal and she didn't recognize the name but the people up there are really nice so I shouldn't have to worry. Nice or not, it creeped me out! I ended up staying awake (mainly crying in fear) all night with a knife under my pillow and a draft text to Beau that said 'help' so I could easily send it while running from the crazy killer(s). Isn't that an awesome way to start off a week of house sitting?! Oh, and the next morning I looked across the street to where they pointed and the house is completely empty with a 'for sale' sign in the window. But I'm still alive and here to tell you!
Now I know why Beau said I'm not allowed to buy a handgun for under the bed... He probably thinks I'll overreact because I sometimes tend to. I like to be cautious when it comes to my safety though!

OMG those are some creepy stores! I hate being alone at night. I'm so afraid of the dark even if I am 25 haha. I would have been beyond freaked out if I were you. Totally a good reason to sleep with a knife under the pillow :)

You sound exactly like me! I'm not going to lie and say that I have never slept with a knife on my nightstand.
ReplyDeleteThat's creepy..and another reason I don't a)watch Law & Order SVU when I'm home alone and B) why I'm glad we're on a 2nd floor apartment
ReplyDeleteHAHA that is creepy. I had a salesman come to my door when I was in middle school and peeked through the windows when I didn't answer and kept ringing the doorbell for a LONG time. I called my mom and she yelled at them when she saw them!! I nearly slept with one eye open after watching The Strangers!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to concur with just a jersey girl, I can never watch crime dramas - at all ever, because they totally creep me out! These are pretty creepy stories! Glad you survived. although, I am certain I would maim myself with a butcher knife under the pillow.
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA HA HA - I love that first quote... too funny! I hate scary movies because I hate being scared... and I also hate getting out of the bed in the middle of the night because I'm scared something is under it - I'm such a dork! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday! XOXO, Stephanie @ Blonde Highlights
